Acrylic

T.E.Ott and Company's acrylic art is a contemporary approach to art that recreates a world that human eyes can not truly see. ( Indeed, if eyes were microscopes the world would appear differently. ) Thus, the colors are bold and the graphics swirl with stories that lay beneath the surface. This technique is a unique blending of what is seen with what is not seen, so you, the viewer, can enjoy the discovery of a 'never-before-seen' view.

Below each painting that follows, we asked the artist, T.E.Ott, why he painted what he did, and what he felt about his subject because what an artist feels is translated in every brushstroke. Enjoy !

Flag

First, let me just say, “God bless, America.” This version of our flag is how I would play Betsy Ross if she were alive and living today. A lot has changed since then, and we are a more mixed conglomerate of beings such as those olde colonial times.

Therefore, if she was the true artist, I think she was, then she would have reflected that population into her fabric creation. I tried to channel that process.

Circle

When I lost my cat, Circle, I was devastated. I named him Circle because I had waited a long time before I brought another animal into my life, and after many many years, when I changed my marital status, I also let Circle into my life. The circle had been completed and thus the name.

This is one of my favorite portraits. It was a
a very emotional piece. I taxed myself with the objective of not painting his skin, but to go into his soul and paint its magnificence. Anyone can paint fur, but can anyone paint the soul? I tried.

Sunny

My gorgeous field of sunflowers. When I first began this piece I thought about Van Gogh and his approach. ( Van Gogh is one of my loves.)
I wanted a modern take with extremely vibrant colors, and my objective was to create a sense of movement.

Today when I look at Sunny, I think differently than before. Now I see Ukraine instead of Vincent. This piece has suddenly taken on new meaning. Damn war!
